Chagres River Boat Cruise
|
Travel on the fabled waters of the Chagres river where we´ll cruise along at slow speed as we look for wildlife such as iguanas, caimans, and birds. This is the main artery of water that feeds Gatún Lake and in turn provides the water necessary for transiting vessels across the canal. We´ll also point out the site of Venta de Cruces which the Spaniards established, in the 1530´s, as a control point along the gold and silver trail known as Camino de Cruces. The forested banks of the river are part of Soberania Nat´l Park and in this area the Chagres lake meets up with the lake.
Difficulty: This is a trip anyone should be able to do and the boat has a roof for rain/sun protection.
What to bring: sneakers, shorts, binoculars.
